Active ingredients

Beetrix is a New Zealand developed herbicide with a unique combination of three active ingredients for broad spectrum weed control in fodder beet. It contains: 50g/litre ethofumesate, 150 g/litre metamitron and 50g/litre phenmedipham.

Mode of action

The three active ingredients in Beetrix have complimentary modes of action to give an overlapping spectrum of activity. Ethofumesate has a different mode of action to metamitron and phenmedipham. The combination and rates of these three actives formulated into one product makes Beetrix an effective choice for broad spectrum weed control through beet establishment.

Movement in plants

Beetrix is absorbed through the roots and the leaves of weeds and translocated to the target sites. Weeds typically stop growing before turning yellow after 5-7 days and then rapidly die down. Root uptake is reliant on good soil moisture before and after application.

Formulation technology

Beetrix is a free flowing liquid suspension concentrate developed by the Lonza research team in New Zealand. It incorporates the correct amount of surface active agents and dispersants to optimise herbicidal activity while maintaining crop safety. Having all three actives in one formulation means these components are shared rather than multiplied up as is the case with tank mixing. The reliably small particle size of the active ingredients ensures quick mixing and excellent flow through sprayer equipment.

Beetrix will control or supress (depending on size) the following weeds:
